Midnattssolsrallyt, den 26-29 juni 2008

En av sommarens absoluta höjdpunkter för rally- och bilfantaster är Midnattsolsrallyt som återuppstått under 2000-talet. Rallyt kördes första gången 1950 och fortsatte som sommartävling till och med 1964 och sedan sommaren 2006 far rallykaravanen återigen fram genom Sveriges grusvägar.

2008 års upplaga startade i Kristianstad på fredagsmorgonen och via Jönköping och Motala gick bilarna i mål i Karlstad på söndagseftermiddagen efter 18 specialsträckor som tilsammans mätte 14,8 mil.

Det blev en uppländsk triumf när Tony "Roten" Jansson från Almunge MK tog hem totalsegern med sin MK1 Escort. Han var 33,4 sekunder före Stig Blomqvist tävlandes i en MK2 Escort för HRCR medans MK Rimos Björn Waldegård blev trea med sin Porsche, slagen med 44,9 sekunder.

Som vanligt prutades det inte när den svenska eliten i historisk rally gjorde upp. Det blev ett tufft rally där flera av de 31 ekipagen som bröt mötte sitt Waterloo första etappen. 100 bilar kom i mål av de 131 till start.
